Lammon Familly DNA
I wanted to update you all on the results to date of the Laymon/Layman/Lemon Y-chromosome DNA Project. We now have results from 21 participants posted on our web site http://home.lightspeed.net/~slaymon/index.htmhttp://home.lightspeed.net/~slaymon/index.htm
So far we have found 2 main lines, one sub-line, and 3 additional possible lines. One line uses the spellings Laymon (4) and Layman (1);one uses the spellings Layman (4), Lemon (2), Lemmon (2), Laymon (1), and LaMance (1); the sub-family uses Layman (1) and Lemmon (1).The possible lines, each represented by 1 person, are spelled, Laymon, Lehman, and Lemmons. In one case, in Sevier Co., TN, we found people from 2 of these lines in the same community. They had been living side-by-side for so many generations that they thought they were cousins - instead they were not related at all!
In order to learn more about how all of these families are related and interlink or are separated, we would like to encourage new participants. We are working with 'Oxford Ancestors', a DNA lab at Oxford, England. Now that we are over 20 participants, the Lab has given us a large group rate of $160/participant.In order to participate, you have to be a male (sorry, but women don’t have Y-chromosomes) and carry the Laymon, Layman, Lemon, Lemmon, Lehman, Lamont, Lamon, or any other spelling. If you are interested, let me know ([email protected]) and I can send you out a test kit and get things rollings.Ifyou can't afford the fee, also let me know - we have a group of about 50 researchers who are helping with some of the costs - sort of like a scholarship!).Below I have listed some of the lines that we are aware of, that we still need participants for:
