My husband just informed me that he was at the Beverly Hospital when his paternal grandmother [MARIE Louise Sirois LaMontagne] died of cancer. She lived in Beverly (off Cabot Street)[before that, they lived off of Rantoul Street in Beverly, Mass. for many years, then they moved to a large apartment off Cabot Street; my husband says he can "still see it"...]. My husband was a pall-bearer for MaMère (firstborn male grandson of his family). Did you know that Ma Mère STILL had very long hair when she died... her hair was down to her ankles. Remember, she was a tiny petite lady. She always wore it "up" with lots of pins and it always looked very nice. John remembers Ma Mère's two daughters combing their mother's hair two weeks before she died (at the Beverly Hospital). Ma Mère died rather quickly of cancer; never went into a hospital in her life until that time. Her son Louis ("Louie") (my husband's father) died of the same cancer, very quickly, although Louis/Louie was only 59 at the time.
