George,
I read the posted article on Robert Lancaster.I believe that this article was referring to his first know ancestor Jesse Lancaster (one of his g-grandfathers),giving a scotish decent of the first anscestor in America, which we know this is wrong as well. However, what I found even more exciting was the reference to living in South Carolina, this I do believe is correct.Apparently, old Jesse Lancaster of Bladen Co., NC made it into South Carolina (Barnwell District) and that is the rest of this bunch.
I have a feeling that the Newberry District, South Carolina (John Lancaster) is also part of this bunch. However I am not sure that his birth was 1757.I don't known if the tried to pull this date from the New England State family records or not.But he was certainly born before 1773.Either date works, one of the older children or one of the youngest.

The Haskets were Quakers who moved to S.C. from eastern NC, So one story goes, John and a friend went to Florida where he married Miss Brown. They had a son Benjamin. Miss Brown died and John left the boy with her relatives and went to S.C. where he met and married Rachel Haskett. I have not found the first name of Miss Brown. The Lancaster's and Rachel's brother Isaac Haskett moved to Miami Co., Ohio in 1806. Do you have proof that Rachel died in Ind.?Some say she was going back to her brother Isaac's after John died. I believe she was living with John Jr. and his wife Ruth in 1840 in Blackford Co., Ind. Edward Lancaster is suppose to have died at the same time as his father John in Grant Co., Indiana.

I am not sure why this family choose to connect to a New England state Lancaster line. But they have taken this path.In the Quaker reference story was from a working descendant. But their Benjamin Lancaster was born in 1802, (lately discovered) much later then they had perdicted. What I do wonder if this Ann Brown wasn't married to a brother of John Lancaster. And was raised by John Lancaster up until his move into Ohio, then some of the Lancaster family in Barnwell District, SC raised him for a peroid of time.(I haven't check out on Mercer Brown, to see if this family was in South Carolina and what area yet, but this needs to happen)
However, the Ann Brown referred to may not even belong to this family because I found the following information in Georgia.Along with Lems finding a Benjamin Lancaster in Barnwell as well.
·1802*Columbia Co., GA, Will Book A, (1790-1804)
October 10th 1802… Will Dated and Probated on December 4th 1802 Will of Mercer Brown, deceased.Leg: Wife: Sarah.Children; Richard Brown, Mercer Brown, Mary Brown, Margaret Brown, Phoebe Brown.Son of deceased daughter Ann, Benjamin Lancaster, Executors: Sons, Richard Brown, and Mercer Brown.Witnesses: Richard Patten, Peter Dill, Mark Davis
· 1817*Barnwell Co., SC, Deed

1817… Jesse Lancaster Sr. deeded to Jesse Lancaster Jr. 300 acres the remainder of a tract of 386-acres originally granted in 1791 to William Walker.86-acres conveyed by me (Jesse Lancaster Sr.) to Elizabeth Nevills and her son Robert Nevills. Witnesses: Benjamin Lancaster
From the above document Benjamin's birth estimated before 1796.
Just another thing to un-scramble.
