You seem knowledgeable and like you I have some questions, and I use most of Nancy's info as she is so good at verifying the lines of LANCASTERS who are in both my maternalDAVIDSON lines and my ROGERS paternal lines.HOWEVER the LANCASTERS are not a direct line of mine, that I know of so far, but are our allied family group in both my maternal and paternal lines.
SOUTHAMPTON CO. VA was formed in 1749 from part of IOW south and west of the Blackwater River and aside from some territory donated for the formation of Greensville County, supposedly this land has not changed very much since the late eighteenth century.IOW was divided into the Upper and Lower Parishes. and was then renamed NOTTOWAY, and eventually became SOUTHAMPTON CO. VA.
Some of my SURRY CO. VA ROGERS lines had allied family groups who owned lands in both Southampton Co. VA and Northampton Co. NC at about the same time, so the spillover into NC is during that time line of when many had migrated into that region when it was known then as SOUTHAMPTON Co. VA.All had migrated out of Surry / Sussex Co's VA into NANSEMOND/ IOW/ SOUTHAMPTON Cols VA then spilled over intoNORTHAMPTON CO. NC and surrounding counties.
Files I have so far for LANCASTERS in SOUTHAMPTON are as follows with souces given : ( we know a JOHN ANDREWS is husband to our SARAH ELLIS who is dau. of ELIZABETH ROGERS and husband BENJAMIN ELLIS.ELIZABETH ROGERS was dau. of WM. ROGERS b. 1757 and last wife ELIZABETH CARTWRIGHT whose desceandants are a DNA MATCH with my ROGERS later found in Anson/ Montgomery Co. NC out of JAMES ROGERS, Sr. and Jr. and Jr's son WILLIAM L. ROGERS.The FF DNA and Y-DNA results are helping me sort out my allied family groups such as the HARRIS and LANCASTER, and EDWARDS lines.I have EDWARDS also in both DAVIDSON maternal line and my ROGERS paternal line though neither were thought to be my direct line either.HOWEVER, that remains to be seen, and I may have a direct line to all these HARRIS/ EDWARDS who seem to be in both my maternal allied family groups as well as my paternal allied family groups.

ROBERT LANCASTER FILES and which one is this one ?? My files mostly from Nancy are saying that ROBERT LANCASTER Sr. died 1720 IOW and that his son ROBERT Jr. died 1739 IOW and we know other ROBERT LANCASTERS are born to this family of many LANCASTERS, I am just not clear on which ROBERT LANCASTER this might be in the following files. One candidate for this one below might be the ROBERT LANCASTER b. abt. 1715 SURRY CO. VA who is son of SAMUEL LANCASTER and wife ELIZABETH HARRIS.This SAMUEL LANCASTER ( father to Robert b. 1715 ) is son of ROBERT LANCASTER Jr. who is son of ROBERT LANCASTER SR. This is a line in my DAVIDSON family so would like to sort it out properly.I am not a LANCASTER researcher but try to get it right using files I feel are reliable.MY FF DNA MATCHES total 22 pages now and 3 pages of those FF DNA MATCHES are with people who have HARRIS surnames in their lines.I feel I must have a HARRIS connection either in my Maternal line of DAVIDSON or my paternal line of ROGERS out of Surry Co. VA.So we don't yet know much about our DAVIDSON line other than my 4th G. GRANDFATHER DANIEL DAVIDSON b. bet. 1770-1780 VA or NC and arrived in Hickman Co. TN in 1825 and was a school teacher. His daughters married into the BENJAMIN MARION LANCASTER/ SARAH HARRIET WHITFIELDline and as such are my distant LANCASTER COUSINS.- Tina Rogers Beller.
