In browsing through this forum (for no particular reason) I was surprised to find a connection to my own ancestry.
On 28 October 1776, Pierre François Macchabe, resident of Lachine, originally from Besançon, son of Jean-François Macchabe and Jeanne-Françoise Tournoux, and widower of Marguerite Charbonneau, married his third wife, Catherine Scayanifs, resident of Lachine, daughter of Andry [André] Scayanifs Landroche and Anne Parent, deceased. The couple is said to have had 12 children.
Pierre François Macchabe came to North America from France in 1755, as a soldier of the Cormier Company of the Guyenne Regiment of the Royal French Army. Following the French defeat at Montréal, he remained at Longue-Pointe, where he had 27 children with three wives.
I'll be happy to share any information that may be of interest.
