If this interests someone - thanks for looking through the detail and offering an opinion, lead or anything.Otherwise it has been posted as a help for others.Still searching for Lankford connections in Pickens County, GA and Floyd, Georgia. There are lots of Lankford's that settled in Texas (Fannin & Lamar Counties).I'm open for ideas to make the leap back to Georgia. My family is John H Lankford & Mary Margaret Pool from Pickens County, Georgia.John was born 1852-1855 (depending upon the record).I have the marriage record - thanks to the folks on GenForum!John had a brother (Asher Frank) that was about 8-10 years younger so it is tough to find them on the same census record so the pieces are kind of scattered. Some information comes 1st hand so it is a little easier to make the tie-in.So far I can trace John and Asher and their descendants from Texas to California.John died in 1937 and in his obituary it mentions a sister (Fannie E.).If anyone has ideas or can provide additional information, it would be greatly appreciated.I'm hoping someone out there has some information to make the tie-in. John & his wife Mary Margaret Pool can be traced as follows: 1880 Persimmon Tree, Pickens County, Georgia 1900 Paris, Lamar County, Texas 1910 Delta County, Texas 1920 Honeygrove, Fannin County, Texas 1930 Honeygrove, Fannin County, Texas
Asher Frank & his wife Emma R Watson can be traced as follows: 1880 North Carolina District, Floyd County, Georgia 1900 Ellis County, Texas 1910 - 1930 Orange County, California
Fannie has been a little tougher.I cannot seem to pick up anything definite until 1900 Bastrop County, Texas living with a John Furr and 3 of her children with the last name of Winters.
I need to somehow make the connection back to Georgia and to the two brothers. Not sure if this is the right Fannie, but the 1870 Census does not list this particular individual as a stepdaughter - i.e. Lankford name. The 1880 does make note of this and allows the children to keep the Lankford name.Between 1860 and 1870 Henry (John Henry?) may have died.An educated guess puts this as my "Fannie" only because Asher Frank Lankford is also listed in the 1880 Census as living in Floyd.Fannie basically followed Asher to California. Her name changed from Winters to Furr to Jones, but a marriage record cannot be located for any of it.
