Chitwood, (1984).Cassell was born 21 Feb. 1847, son of James L. Cassell and wife Sophia Gantz.She died at Nace, Botetourt County, Virginia.Four children.Virginia Alice Langhorne was living in 1900 in Carrol County, Laurel Fork District, described as head of household, but also as married for 34 years although Mr. Cassell was not there.Her mother, age 75, was living with her then.She was a farmer, and she appears on the farm schedule, 164.(See Census, ED 2-9-96).Information on her children comes from "The Omohundros and Their Kin; The Omohundro Genealogical Record," by Malvern H. Smith of Flint, Texas, born 30 June 1876, son of James Cowper Smith and wife Elizabeth Ann.He was a teacher and lived at Olivia Star Route, Port Lavaca, Texas.She was a teacher in Carroll County in 1900, when she was living with her mother.No children. B: Lila Brown Cassell, born 21 Aug. 1873, married 27 Dec. 1896 Ellis Beamer, died 6 Feb. 1905.He was the son of Martin Beamer and wife Louisa Martin.He was a manager of a crew for building bridges for a railroad company.Two children. C: Rhoda B. Cassell, born 29 March 1875.She married (1) 1897 William Henry Kunkel.He was born 22 Feb. 1856 in Pitsburgh, Pennsylvania, died 4 Oct. 1911, son of William Henry Kunkel and wife Sarah.Two children.She married (2) 19 April 1919 John Augustus Cody Jr, born 28 Aug. 1883 in Chicago, son of John Augustus Code Sr and wife Catherine.Lived Monterey Park, California.No children. D: William L. Cassell, born 20 Sept. 1876, single, lived in Botetourt, Virginia.A farm laborer in 1900, when he lived with his mother.
