I am Bob Miller, the husband of Lynda, and descendant of Thomas Miller. I know lots about Thomas Miller. The father of Thomas was Peter Miller who was married to Nancy Trotter per a reference by a "Mrs. Appleton" given to me by my Aunt, Emily Miller Turner of Wytheville, VA. Mrs. Appleton must have written something along these lines in the early to mid 1900s. I know not what. Tradition in the family has it that Nancy's sister is (twin) Elizabeth Trotter who married Maurice Langhorne, whose child, Elizabeth Langhorn, married the above mentioned Thomas Miller. Maurice and Peter were close friends of the same vintage besides being related by marriage. They both lived in or around Powhatan, Co. Va. Maurice ran an Inn on the road from Powhatan to Lynchburg called Langhorne Tavern.
In an effort to find my ultimate Miller immigrant, I had tried to find out about the Trotters. On my own I found a reference that they were from Lancaster County, VA which isn't saying much because it was so large in the 1700s. It was finally reduced to that area around Norfolk, VA. However the county records were lost when the British burned the courthouse in the war of 1812; so I could find nothing there by looking in the Library in Richmond.
If you can help further, please let Lynda or myself know.
