I'm working on a gravestone for Elizabeth Phillips, (b. 1685, d.1761) a colonial midwife in the Boston area whose name before marriage here to the bookseller Eleazar Phillips was Langton, according to one source. She was commissioned by John Robinson, Ld Bp/London, in 1718, and came to the American colonies in 1719 (all this per her gravestone, probably carved by Nathaniel Lamson, also of Charlestown) where she met and married Eleazar Phillips, a Boston bookseller who lived in Charlestown. I'm trying to figure out whether Langton was her maiden name or her married name when she left London (Westminster): in other words, was she a widow when she emigrated, or not, and if so, what her maiden name might have been. She delivered 3000 children per her epitaph.
Any information appreciated, and if you're in the Boston area, I'm happy to offer a (free!) tour of the burying grounds and/or church history sites to say "thanks!" (www.freewebs.com/buryinggroundstours)
