My Mum and I travelled yet again to the homeland last year and spent time at Raheendonore with Lanigans. There is a current Martin who now lives in UK and owns the old school house there where he and family spend time on holidays. His brother still farms there. There are more Lanigans at Graiguenamanagh who tell the "oft" told story of "they're not our Lanigans" which I must say is amusing when they are all so very much alike.
There's also the magnificent Ned who lives with his wife , a Coady, and his 10 children at Mullinavat, nearby. Ned is one of the most amazing characters and tells a great tale of the magnificent fortitude and extraordinary bravado of his Lanigan family during the invasion and subsequent persecution by the British.
My Mum has been trying to piece together this jigsaw for almost 20 years, and is well worth contacting...on firstname.lastname@example.org
