Sure, I actually go to the court house and dig through the records. If you look around the family trees on Ancestry with the name Lantzer(Lanzer) in them, you will find lots of trees with old German documents.I have been supplying them.
Huge parts of German were considered Bavaria back in the 1800's, so it could be they are from this general area. The problem is even this general area is large enough that it could be in multiple districts.
If I come across any Lanzers with a marriage between a Adam and Margaret, I will let you know.
Have you tried looking up whether they became US citizens or not?It might show exactly what town they came from in request.
Sorry I did not post earlier, I went on vacation.Rockenhausen research room was closed on they day I wanted to go.Then I found out Reipoltskirchen did not have records going back as far as I needed them.My Lanzers moved from that area before 1810 and their records only start around that time.
But in looking for older records, I believe I found an Archive center in Speyer.Problem is that is also over an hour drive and I have to make an appointment to get access to the records.Unlike Rockenhausen where I just pick out a town and search through the records, I really have to do my homework before I go out there.
