I have an 1870s photo album that includes some 1860s images and some 1880s images. The family surnames are Lapp (these identified images are all from NY) and Martin (these identified images are from PA). There was enough information in the names on the identified photos to match the album to its family. * means there are one or more identified images of that person in the album, **means there are images I think are likely that person in the album ***there are images that might be that person but could also be other persons. Isaac Lapp** b. 2 Dec 1825 Hopewell, Ontario County,NY - d. 24 Jun 1885 Clarence Center, NY. Son of Abraham and Anna nee Smith Lapp. Married Apr 1853 Clarence Center, NY to Martha M. Hopkins. Children are: Martha Lapp, Adel aka Edda Lapp, Etta Lapp, Charles H. Lapp, George Alfred Lapp*, Edna Lapp*, Nellie Lapp, Horace Lapp, Katharine E. Lapp, Clarence E. Lapp * , Martha Bernadine aka Bertie M. Lapp**, Eunice G. Lapp, and Henry I. Lapp. The other family are all Martins, which leads me to suspect the album was the produce of a Martin + Lapp union. George Alfred Lapp married a Sarah Ann Martin***, and her family names match the identified Martin photos. The Martins are: Moses H. Martin** b. 16 Sep 1830 Lancaster Co, PA - d. 30 Mar 1904 Clarence Center, NY. Son of Abraham W. and Maria nee Horst Martin. Married first about 1853 to Leah Eshelman** b. 1837 - d. 1867 Clarence Center, NY. She was teh daughter of Jacob and Catherine nee Rhodes Eshelman. Their children were: Mary C. Martin*** b. 1854, Louisa J. Martin *** b. 1858, Edwin E. Martin* b. 1859, Andrew Martin* b. 1860, Sarah Ann Martin*** b. 24 Apr 1862 who married George Lapp so the album may have belonged to them, Elizabeth 'Eliza' Martin* b. 1864, and Elias Martin* b. 1867. Moses H. Martin married 2nd in 1869 at Clarence Center NY to Hannah Reichert (aka Reichard/Richard/Richards), the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth nee Groh Reichert. Hannah Reichert was born in 1842 at New Dundee, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. She died in 1921 at Clarence Center, NY. Their children were Oliver A. Martin b. 1870, Jonas Martin b. 1871, Nathaniel Martin b. 1880, and Albert b. Oct 1883. There are labelled slots for the children of his second wife and the images have been removed. It appears that the family removed the photos of the persons they were related to before the album was sold. Scans of the images are free. There are 22 images remaining, including one Edna Schellering (sp?) the Reverend's wife and evidently a friend, not a relation. Scans are free. Interested parties may post here or email me direct.
