Jonas and Elizabeth Larroway are my ancestors. I have a great deal of info on the line, particularly back to the immigrant ancester, Simeon LeRoy dit Audy who settled first in New France (Quebec) then NY. Some of his descendants became Larua, then Laraway and Larr[a/o]way.
The Jonas you mention as marrying Maria Oeycke Uziele was in fact Leonard-Tremi (Jonas) Le Roy who was known by the NY Dutch as Jonar Larua (phonetic representation of his French name) This JOnas married Maria Uziele who was NEVER known as Oeycke, that being a common misunderstanding of the Kingston NY records where Maria's name is recorded as Maria Oeycke. In BRACKETS, Hoes (the transcriber) adds the correct surname of UZIELE. Again, Oeycke is a phonetic misrepresentation of Maria's French name Uziele (also spelled U'Siele)
Here is the record with the transcriber's added notes inside [ ] :
transcribed and edited by Roswell Randall Hoes, Baptismal & Marriage Register of the Old Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster Co. NY 1660-1809,(1891. Repriint Genealogical Publishing Co. Inc, 1980, 1997), # 216, 28 Sept. 1703. Jonas Larroy, j.m. born in Cubeck [Quebec] in Canada, and Maria Oeycke [Uziele] born on Staaten Eyland [Staten Island], and residing in Packkeepsen [Poughkeepsie. Banns published, dates not given.
