sorry about the mispells, but it happens ever time I try to write anything on genealogy these days, and it comes by way of an troll "intruder"..I just had to redo my email password again. Chalkley's is now "on-line"... May 1762 James Lister vs, Robt, Murphy..Eilzabeth Moore m. Robt. Murphy between 1761-62. I am now finding in chalkey's the Davis family as also Davies and Davidson by records. Deliquents, Augusta county, Va for 1779...James Larkin removed to Rockingham..only entry of "Larkin" for Vol. II, Chaukley's. James Lister operated an store...page 451...James Lessly neighbor to Wm Baskins, an justice, near Beverly Manor, owns later several pieces of land throughout Augusta (later Bath, co) Va. He apparently died before 1790. I do not know if he could be an elder form of the Larkins name. Chaukley's is so interesting I was up last night until 4:11 am reading it's entries... there is also in the books an "William Loggins" entry. I expect if our John Lawson was buying up ground for Col. George Washington, with this William Larkin as per will listed in prior posting..that they were somewhat educated people. I am also now finding possible reference to an Thomas Davis, though the only entry for mariages on his hs is not married to Elizabeth Eaton. March 21,1780..thomas Davis allowed land for services as Sargent in Capt. William Preston's company of Rangers in war between Great Brtiain and France...I have yet to check that data out. Later this thomas Davi goes to Green county, North Carolina...but apparently does not stay there. He also is travelign with an James Leister and an debtator for Ferry service over New River with Liester. I have not as yet found any Thomas Handley..other then the Bandy name mentioned in above post. May 20, 1758 Thomas Davis removed out of the colony..May 19, 1758 Ephraim Vause removed out of the colony (Ft. Vause, indentured servant Richard Handley(Hailey)..perhaps later in are called "Bandy" for last name). Richard's sister is married to the Garrard family and one married into the Walker family also. I went to Adair co., Ky and they simply are not there, your ususal Samuel and John Handley were though, almost like "clock work"...as they appear an thousand times all over either as Handley or Hailey. I was thinking Keturah was an name for Kentucky, but it also is an biblical name apparently. I need to see my preacher's notes. One of whom is most unfavorable for an Thomas Davis.
