I too have been wondering about the indian ancestersin my family but it has been very difficult. The Rose-Hawley museum in Luddington Michigan has a picture of my GGGgrandparents in the indian section of the museum with many stories of his life and past that are almost legendary. Louis Rock looks to be French but his wife Marguerite is obviously indian. All attempts to verify any data from the museum have been failures, leading up strange paths which also dont seem to be verifiable. Louis had 13 children many of whom I cannot trace beyond their generation in Michigan. Are you and your ancesters from that area and stock? Any help, clues, etcetera would be very much appreciated. He is reported as having been born at sea, but the Couillaud and Laroquebrun families tie him into descendency from Jehan Philibert Coiullaud de Laroque dit Rocquebrun from the Carrignon regiment. Again his birth cannot be confirmed beyond a year date which does not correlate with his Michigan records by about 10 years.
