Marilyn, I started working on my mom's family (LaRue) in 1967 for a girl scout badge. I claim I did her family tree in self defense, her dad was one of 15 kids. My mom knew all her cousins, but I had to write names down to figure out who was who! When I hit a brick wall on my direct line, I started collecting everything I could find on the surname Larue/larew/Laroo. any spelling, didn't matter, I just wrote every snipppet down. Back then, reading census rolls meant spending precious Saturdays in the basement of a stuffy building that housed the state genelogical library. Now I have a subscription to Ancestry that makes it much more convenient to research census records! In the 1880 census, William, Susan, George, alfred, and Emma are in Adrian township, Lenawe county MI, In 1870, the family is in Tittabawassee twp. Saginaw co MI, In 1860 Farmington twp., oakland co MI, in 1850- the town of Elbridge, Onandaga co NY.
