It is believed that Jacob (cir. 1700-1775) came to America from the Rhine Valley area of Northern Switzerland in the early part of 18th century and settled in Northampton County, Lynn Twp. (now Lehigh County), PA, where he engaged in farming.Court records show that he was the father of 5 children, one of which was Frederick.Sorry, I do not have the other children's names.
Frederick (1737-1810) was Jacob's second child. He married Catherine (?) and they had 7 children, one of which was Christian.Frederick was a farmer in Lynn Twp., PA.He was involved in spiriting the Liberty Bell from Philadelphia and hiding it in Allentown, PA to keep it from the British. He also served for a short time in the Colonial Army during the Revolution.Frederick is buried in a family plot on the farm he owned new New Tripoli, PA.
Christian (1775-1845) was Frederick's second child. He married Anna Elizabeth (Nancy) (Agnes) Billman (1770-1854).They had 10 children and lived in Perry County, PA where they owned land and engaged in farming. In 1825 they moved to Richland County, Plymouth Twp., OH (part of which is now in Cass Twp.) where they bought land west of Ganges and continued farming.Christian and Nancy are buried in London Cemetery. It was between the time Christian came to Richland County and his death that the name was changed to Laser.
John (1807-1856) was the first child of Christian amd was married to Mary Blocker (1813-1877).They were farmers southeast of Shelby, OH and had 12 children. They are also buried in London Cemetery.
David (1842-1922) was the seventh child of John.He married Susan Barnes (1843-1873) and they had six children and lived in Richland County, OH.Susan is buried in London Cemetery. After Susan's death, David married Ella (?) (1853-1925) and moved to Montpelier, OH where he worked for many years as a carpenter.David and Ella are buried in Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.
Lemuel Wesley (1862- ?) was the second child of David.Lemuel was very young when his mother died.He was sent to live with the DeLanceys, east of Shiloh, OH.It happened that the DeLanceys had relatives in Port Royal, PA (Juniata County) by the name of Palm. This is how Lemuel met his wife-to-be Rebecca Palm, daughter of David and Ann DeLancey.Lemuel and Rebecca married and had two children, Flora and Elsie.Rebecca died following the birth of Elsie and Elsie died several weeks later. Both are buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, OH.After the deaths of Rebecca and Elsie, a sister of Rebecca's, named Clara Belle, did housekeeping for Lemuel and little Flora. While Flora was still a child, Lemuel and Clara Belle (1865-1934) were married. They had six children:Maude, Norman, Alva, Jay, Mildred (my grandmother) and John.
