I am trying to connect my great-great-great-grandfather Jefferson G. B. LASH to Adam LASH. I found an Adam LASH in Johnson Co, IN who had a son named James LASH who had a son named Jefferson G. LASH
Adam LASH was born about 1738 and died in 1825 according to a tombstone in Hamner Cemetery, Amity township, Johnson County, Indiana. I found information in Family Records of Johnson County, Indiana; Volume 4 – D.A.R.(page 244-249):
His pension claim states that he had four children, two sons and two daughters. The sons were Henry LASH and James LASH.The names of the daughters are not known. Sons: 1. Henry LASH 2. James LASH married Mary D. (Polly) _____
James LASH died in testate (12 May 1839 at age 42) but various court records name the following children. 1. Jefferson G. Lash m. April 14, 1846 Elizabeth Idings 2. Nancy Lash m. Nov. 2, 1833 John Hamner 3. William Lash m. Dec. 21, 1836 Mary D. Cunningham 4. Elizabeth Lash m. Jan. 30. 1837 Isaac Vaughn (The above four were of legal age May 2, 1840) 5. Samuel Lash m. March 29, 1842 Susan Pierce 6. Lydia Lash m. Aug. 14, 1841 Daniel W. Shaffer Mary D. Lash, widow of James Lash, married 2nd time May 22, 1841 to Henry P. Tosser.
In the Armstrong Cemetery in Amity Township, Johnson Co, IN, there are LASHES buried, Eleanor LASH -d. . 7 Nov 1845 (age 35), wife of Jefferson G. B. Lash.
1840 US Census – Jefferson G. LASH in Johnson County, Indiana (only head named) 1850 US Census - Jefr. G. B. LASH and Elizabeth are found in Franklin Twp, Johnson Co, IN 1860 US Census – J.G. B. LASH and Elizabeth and son Isaac (my GG grandfather) in Van Buren Twp, Keokuk Co, IA 1870 US Census – not found
According to WPA tombstone records: LASH, J. C. B. (05 June 1811-05 Aug 1873) buried in Olivet Cemetery in Scott twp, Mahaska Co, IA with a note:An old stone laying in the ground /wife, Elizabeth.I think this should be J.G.B.
Does anyone have a connection to any of the LASH persons in the above? Thank you, Diana
