Do you have a list of siblings and parents for your Thomas?
I'm looking for a connection to Henry Z. Lassiter, born abt 1815 in GA. He married unknown first, then married 2ndMargaret Stephens in Carroll Co. GA on 26 Jun 1848. Henry died in Carroll Co., GA in 1856. He is in the 1840 and 1850 census of Carroll Co., GA along with 2 sons of Benjamin Lassiter (who was the son of Tobias), James H, and William Lassiter. All 3 are listed in 1853 Carroll Co., GA tax digest. Henry is 35,in 1850 census and his wife Margaret Stephens Lasseter, age 22.
There was a Thomas Lasseter living in Paulding Co., GA in 1840 and 1850. Henry Z. Lassiter paid taxes on 40 acres of land in Paulding Co., GA in 1842, even though he lived in Carroll Co. (but owned no land in Carroll Co.). Could Thomas and Henry have been related?
Children listed in 1850 census with Henry and Margaret are John H., James, Mary J., Elizabeth, and Nancy. My gg grandfather William Jackson Lassiter was born to this couple in 1853. A daughter Mattie was born as well in 1856. Henry Z. died in 1856, and Margaret remarried a C.Z. Wellborne in Campbell Co., GA in 1867?
I am also looking for info on Elisha Lasseter who married Nancy Baker in Greene Co., GA on Jan. 1, 1802. I would like to know who their children were, and where this family ended up. On that same day ( 1 Jan. 1802) a Brown Lasseter md. Anne Stewart in this County. Were Brown and Elisha related? Tobias Lasseter lived in Greene Co., GA at the time of his death around 1804. Other Lasseter's who married in Greene Co., GA were Jesse Lasseter (md. Deppe McClendon Jan. 28, 1906) and a John Lasseter (md. Nancy Griffen Dec. 10, 1904).
Widow Nancy Lasseter was administrator of the estate of Elisha Lasseter, Jasper Co. GA, in 1816, but I have not seen a copy of this will.
The 1850 census of DeKalb Co., GA shows a Nancy Lasseter, widowed, aged 65, living in the household of Shubal Starnes, who married a Martha Lasseter (Sarah's daughter). The 1860 census of Carroll Co., GA shows this Nancy living in the household of James H. Lassetter (son of Tobias). This James Lassetter married Amanda Lasseter in Coweta Co., GA, which could indicate that Amanda was another daughter of Nancy.
In 1840, Shubal Starnes lived next door to Henry Z. Lassiter. One might speculate that Henry was Shubal's brother-in-law, as his wife was Martha Lassiter. These two lived 8 households away from the above mentioned James Lassetter in 1840. Was Henry a son of Nancy?
Another name that comes into the mix is a Richard Lasseter, who married Matilda Gilbert in Walton CO., GA on 27 Feb. 1832. Richard is shown in the 1840 census of Coweta Co., GA, where Amanda Lasseter married James Lassetter. Was Richard a son of Nancy and brother to Henry Z.?
Does anyone have any info to connect these families, or a list of Nancy and Elisha's or Nancy and John's children?
A Hansell Lassseter drew land in the 1827 land lottery in District 3 of Carroll Co., GA (later Troup Co.). How does Hansell fit into this puzzle? Or does he?
Thanks for any info. Randy Brooks email@example.com
