Harrison Thomas as usual does not have his facts straight. Additionally, this is not his LaTour lineage as proven by the various church records and other genealogical research of notable LaTour researchers. Harrison Thomas is not a descendant of Pierre Grasset LaTour or Alexis LaTour.
This is most probably the death record for Homer LaTour the son of Pierre Grasset Latour. The age at death fits.
LATOUR, Omer d. 23 April 1885 at age 51 yrs. (Opel. Ch.: v. 2, p. 415).
Homere LaTour, son of Alexis LaTour and Catherine Doucet, was listed in the 1850 St. Landry Census record. His place of birth is LA and not France as wrongly stated by Harrison Thomas. He shows up in the 1860 census record with his parents Alexis LaTour and Catherine Doucet as a child of 11. Hence he was the same Homer LaTour in the 1850 census as well. He was NOT the son of Pierre Grasset LaTour. This Homer/Omeara died in 1830.
These are records from the renown LeBlanc researcher Richard Zeutenhorst.
Augustin Meara Latour
Born: 8 OCT 1849at: St. Landry, Louisiana

Died: 12 JUN 1886at: St. Landry, Louisiana

Hébert, Southwest Lousiana Records: Latour, Augustin Meara b. 8 Oct 1849 (Opel. Ch.: v.4, p. 397); Homere Latour m. Octavie Brignac 20 May 1870 (Opel. Ct. Hse.: Mar. # 6045).
1880 Census lists in St. Landry Parish (v.14, Sheet 4 line 38): Latoure, Homer 31 (farmer): Octavia, wife 25, keeping house; Francois son 9; Mary dgh 7; Cerins son 5; Joseph G. son 5/12 Feb; Laurence son 3.
Homere Latour and Augustin Meara Latour are apparently the same person.
1860 Census lists name as Homer Latour, age 11.

Here is the link to the LaTour family research done by Richard Zeutenhorst and his father-in-law, Raymond LaTour. This man is a very well respected and knowledgeable LaTour family researcher. According to Mr. Zeutenhorst, the LaTour family can be traced back to the early 18th century to the Bergerac region of France where the trail disappeared. There is no royal ancestry in the LaTour family as claimed by one researcher nor any kinship to Diana Spencer, the Princess of Wales.

Here are my corrections and additions to Harrison Thomas' aka Thomas LaTour’s claim to be from the son of Homer LaTour md. Emily Pasquier. This is the Homer LaTour who was the son of Pierre Grasset LaTour and Felicia Franchebois. Harrison’s claim is that Homer LaTour fathered a son named Ozeme LaTour (born in October of 1869) with Helene Richard, daughter of Alexandre Richard and Eloise Leger. Ozeme LaTour is a Black son supposedly born to a White couple which is not genetically possible. This is not a racist issue as Harrison is trying to make it but one of truth. I have contacted several of the descendants of Pierre Grasset LaTour and they concur with my findings as they match their own. Harrison Thomas is a Black man claiming Richard and LaTour ancestors that are pure White. This is not genetically possible unless they had Black blood and they did not at this point in time. There were many free persons of color and/or Black slaves freed after the Civil War that I suspect were the parents of Harrison Thomas' ancestor, Ozeme LaTour.
1. Note in the 1870 St. Landry Parish, LA census record thatHomer LaTour is married to Emily Pasquier and that they have two daughters Alice and Emilie in their household. This family is White.Harrison stateshis ancestor, Ozeme LaTour, was born in October of 1869 which the 1920 OK census record verifies. Note the race for Ozeme LaTour is Black in the 1920 OK census record. In the 1880 St. Landry Parish, LA census record Homer LaTour and Emily Pasquier are still together with their children and there is not aOzeme LaTour in the household. Homer LaTour is again listed as White as is his family. This should have waved a very big red flag.
2. Note the marriagerecord for Ozeme LaTour which states his parents are Homere LaTour and Helene Richard. I have never foundthe parents for this couple in Father Hebert’s SWLA records. There is not any verification to connect this Homere to Pierre Grasset LaTour nor to connect Helene Richard to Alexandre Richard, grandson of Pierre Richard, Sr. which are White not Black people.
3. Note the 1850 and 1860 Slave Schedules where a certain researcher cites the race of Homer and Pierre Grasset Latour as being Mulatto andBlack. This is incorrect. I know how to read a slave schedule and the age, sex, and race listed are strictly listed for the slaves and not the owners. If we interpret the slave census as Harrison would have us do, then every slave owner in Louisiana was Black and we know that is not true.
4. The ancestors Harrison cites as the parents of Homer LaTour and Helene Richard are White. Parents of strictly White ancestry can not have a Black child such as the Ozeme LaTour who md. Marie Guillory and Clara Touissant. It is not scientifically possible. Here is yet another red flag that has been ignored.
5. Now I ask you could anyone look at these records and ever conclude that Homer LaTour, son of Pierre Grasset LaTour, was the father of Ozeme Latour.
I rest my case.
