I may have a breakthrough clue for Hannah Harjar: I am writing a book on the Durand family of Derby, CT, and was studying a will by Hannah (Durand) Fairchild. Hannah (and her husband Zachariah) had no children, so she gave her estate to her relatives. Her list of relatives is very helpful to genealogists. The one (presumed) relative that had me stumped was "Hannah the wife of Gideon Lattin." Then I stumbled onto the Hannah Harjar, Harjer, Harjeb items sprinkled around the web and her husband Gideon Lattin. One final fact, then my theory: Hannah Durand had a sister Sarah Durand who married Jabez Harger, and Hannah left part of her estate to her (deceased) sister's children. Now, you can see it coming: Harger is sometimes rendered Hardyear. So my theory is that Harjar = Harjer = Harjeb = Hardyear = Harger and that Hannah Hargar (let's say, since Harjar etc are very unusual forms) is a daughter of Jabez and Sarah (Durand) Harger. Sarah b 3 Jun 1733, Derby, is daughter of John and Sarah (Lum) Durand. Jabez b 24 Feb 1731 is son of Jabez and Anna (Tibbals) Harger, grandson of Jabez and Margaret (Tomlinson) Harger. The children that I knew for Sarah and Jabez Harger are: 1. Sarah b 5 Aug 1760; 2.Elizabeth b 14 Jul 1764; 3. Jabez b 22 Nov 1766; 4. Anna m. ____ Tiffany; 5. Elijah. Notice that Hannah b 24 Oct 1774 fits nicely onto the end of this list, perhaps with another child between her and Elijah. Most of these children, if not all, were born in Oxford, CT. That's my theory. What do you think, or know?
