Thanks for the additional info. of Minerva Laughter's descendants. It looks like the Mary Ann (Polly) Laughter who was the mother of Elias Laughter (b. 1844) is different from the Mary A. Laughter who was apparently the mother of Minerva Laughter (b.c. 1843), although the two share remarkably similar dates and circumstances.Anyway, here is the information I've been able to assemble for them so far, subject to confirmation or correction:
Mary Ann (Polly) or Mary (Polly) Ann Lawter or Laughter (b.c. 1808-1822 [?d/o William Lawter m. Polly Ann?] m.c. 1846 Enoch Ruff (b.c. 1804-06 SC/NC [?s/o George Ruff SC?]; m1 Nancy Owensby b.c. 1812 d.c. 1845? and m2 Mary Ann Polly Lawter or Laughter).
Mary A. Laughter, b.c. 1818-22 NC Rutherford d. 1871 [d/o Wyley or Wiley Laughter b.c. 1775 NC Rutherford d.c. 1846 NC Rutherford m. 2/23/1796 Anne Shelton b.c. 1775 NC Rutherford d.a. 1860] m. 8/19/1856 James Edgerton or Egerton, b.c. 1808 NC d.a. 1860.
i) Minerva Laughter (b.c. 1842-43 NC d.a. 1910)
Maybe someone will know or have much more about both.
