Based on actual still existing records, an educated guess is Zeruiah (Sarah), was the daughter of John Finch and Sarah, who lived in the mountain wilds of Saratoga County. To reiterate, from actual existing records, that is an educated guess. Not a single record exists of Zeruiah untill the 1840s bible and 1850 census, not even her name. Young John Finch, who lived in the wilds of Saratoga County, N.Y., died as a result of a lumbering accident. He was very poor and it was perhaps his first good contract year in lumbering. However all his earnings went to saving his life unsuccessfully. He owned only a horse collar, a chair and a few other posessions and he owned the horse collar jointly with another. All these were sold off also to pay his medical bills. The record of the proceeding is in Saratoga County. John and Sarah had young girls. Names unknown on records...In their golden years Zeruiah moved out of the house in Hope Falls and lived with Squire above the mill in the Vermont tradition to make room for his son David and family. Information from Hope Falls historian, Watson Arnold, now deceased.....Only a NY woman who had been very very poor in her youth would have moved above the mill.
