My great-great grandfather's name was John Lawhorn. He was supposedly born in Blythewood, SC. His first wife was a Native American woman named Tori. The story is told that an oridnace was passed that forbade all Indians to be away from the reservation. John was determined to keep his wife so he hid her in his house where she remained until her death. John and Tori had six children with her: Harriet, Jim, George, Sam, Rosetta, and Corrie. Records show that Corrie was raised by Amanda Perry who is believed to have been related to Tori. After Tori died he married an African-American woman named Mary (my great-great grandmother) and had seven children with her: Willie, Clarence(my great-grandfather), Lela, Charles, Albert, Kitty, and Linnie. John's white family disowned him because of his two interracial marriages and when he died, he was buried on the "black side" of the cemetary. A lot of the names in my family tree sound a lot like yours including Willie, Charles, Linnie, and Corrie. I've only been researching for a little while but I would love to share information!
