Great news for you! William Earl Lawhorn was my grandfather.William was married first to Mary Elizabeth Wyatt and then after their divorce married Sarah Tankersly. My father was named George David Lawhorn after his grandfather. Mary Elizabeth was his mother. Hershel had children, I believe he is the father of Skip,Larry, and forgive me I cannot remember my other cousins name Lawhorn but I am not certain of this.My father, George David(Dave) just passed away on November 3,2004, but he is survived by Paul Edward Lawhorn(the eldest),Mary Elizabeth(Micki),and baby sister Janet Rose Dalton, Sarah's child. My daughter is Elisabeth Mary for my grandmother. I also have a brother, Donald Edward who is 9 years older than me and has 2 boys. Pawpaw(William) was known as a "one horse preacher" and traveled as a missionary. My father was born in the middle of a rainstorm in Loveland,Ohio while he and Mawmaw(Mary Elizabeth)were hosting a revival.I am the proud owner of a very vintage picture from 1898??or maybe early 1900's of George and Leona(as my Dad called her Nanny Leona)that I would be more than happy to copy if possible and send to you postage paid as a gift from one Lawhorn to another. The resembelance to my dad and my aunt Jan is startling!!!
BTW-Larry is our family historian and gave me this tidbit: Lena Lee was closely related(may have been a child or niece)to none other than Robert E.Lee, famous Southern General. As far as we can tell, since my last post, Lena fell in love with George and acted as a missionary to his tribe, the Blackfoot. His original Blackfoot name was Eagle Eyes Watching but Lena encourage him to take a more "Christian" name and to cut his hair.I understand that George could still throw a tomahawk heartily well into his 60's.My grandfather William Earl was given his tribal name at 5,He Who Searches The Sky, and my dad was given the name Silent Walker(for his ability to sneak into the most amazing places.).My tribal name, given by Mawmaw as my Pawpaw had died(c1968) before I was born (1973) is Snowbird. My daddy, the day before he passed, knowing that he would not live to see her 5th birthday, bestowed my Bethie the name Great Sunshine for he always felt she lifted the souls of those around her. PLEASE email me if you want to chat more, I know I am forgetting so much in my haste!
