I was very pleased to hear from you re a possible Lawrance connection. I have not pursued this line to any great extent, only basing my assumptions re Eliza on census dates and place of birthand a marriage certificate. Also, the following are baptisms in Great Stanmore, Middlesex, from the IGI , which I believe refer to my Eliza and her siblings.Parents are William and Ann:
1. Ann bp. 25 Jan 1835 2. Eliza, bp.14 Aug 1836 3. William, bp. 25 Mar 1838 4. Frances, bp.2 Aug. 1840 5. William Seymour, bp. 11 Dec 1842 6. Georgiana, bp.9 Feb.1845 7. Herbert bp. 3 Mar 1849
The IGI also has a marriage for William Seymour Lawrance to Emily Martha Restieaux on 3 April 1866 at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster, London. Is this, by any chance, your William who emigrated to Australia?
Eliza married John Cooper on 11 Sept 1864 in Great Stanmore, with witnesses William Lawrance and Georgina Lawrence. Her father was given as William Lawrance, carpenter. Her first daughter named Georgiana Kate (Katy).Another daughter, Emily Ann (Fanny) was born 1868.She later married (or not) my great-grandfather William Manderson. They are on the 1871 census for London, in Bow, with the 2 daughters and William's son, David William.
I will be most interested to hear whether we have a connection, particularly since my husband and I had a wonderful holiday in Australia in March, during which time we also met two very distant cousins, both on my maternal side (as Eliza is).
