Hello, I have the folllowing information on John Leasure, is there a way you can check to see if John is indeed in the Leasure book?Valerie,
According to an application John filled out for Social Security he was born 17 July 1883, Ironton, Ohio. His parents were John William Leasure and Lizze A Huff. The application is dated 21 Aug 1937.
John also gives his address as General Delivery, Caruthersville, Missouri and is working for Dillman Industries of Caruthersville.
John William Leasure married Mildred Elizabeth Caughron, unsure of date of place. Assuming he met Mildred in Cairo, Illinos, when she was visiting relatives, James Caughron and family. James was a riverboat captain and family members think John also worked on a riverboat.
According to the 1930 Census for Painesville, Lake, Ohio, John is 45 and a boarder living at South State Street, Painesville, Ohio. John lists himself as being married, first married he states he was 16. John also states he had not attended school or college since 1929, he could read and
write and was born in Ohio. John states his father was born in Ohio and mother in the United States. John lists his occupation as a laborer who does odd jobs.
John also states he is not a veteran.
According to family, John had been married several times, perhaps as many
as 5.
I do not recall the year he went to live with daughter, Martha "Marie" Leasure Shamel, but probably in the late 1950's. John died 2 December 1960 and is buried at Calvery Cemetery, Portage, Porter, Indiana
thank you, Valerie Moore
