Delitha must have passed on between the 1871 & 1880 census and Shadrack after the 1880 census
I found records where the Finley brothers were farmed out to Benjamin Smith and his sister in the mid 1840s from the Georgia Archives. Benjamin Smith later moved to Randolph County, Alabama in the 1850s. The Finley boys are with Benjamin Smith and sister in the 1850 census of Campbell County, GA. I am pretty sure that Delitha Nations Finley Leatherwood's mother was a Smith, so my guess is that the Finley boys were with kin. Somestimes the Finley name is spelled Findley, Finly, Fenley, & etc.
My John M. Finley married in Randolph Co., AL around 1858. He had two children, a girl and boy. John M. Finley was killed in the war on Oct. 7, 1864. His brother Jeremiah was captured and died in a POW camp, so both of Delitha's boys by the Finley marriage were causalities of the Civil War.
Thank you for getting in touch with me and I am looking forward to getting more info from you.
