katherine leavins yates was the d/o richmond who was born1821. he was the son of richmond who was born 1787. who was the son of richmond born 1760. there are 3. now i have recently found out that there is another who is the father of richmond born in 1760. this one was born in 1730s. this one was married to a jane. in 4-1-1763 they were given a land grant by lord granville.i was just given this info. like i said i am the grgrgrandaughter of elijah leavins. i had thought all along that his dad was richmond. the one born in the 1780s. it is my understanding that he(elijah ) is the son of william leavens. apparently they appear in the bulloch co. georgia 1820 census. our ancestors supposedly started in south carolina. 1790 census orangeburgh district has william and richard. they later are in georgia. it is all pretty confusing. the name richard, richmond, etc. there is also a jacob and a james.they are in the south and i was told william richard, jacob and james are brothers. jacob and richmond are in wake and cumberland n.c. richard leavins is listed a house joiner(builder) in some records. 1778 enlisted in 1st battallion of ga. minutemen under elijah clarke. georgia archives; warrant 1273, served in 3rd and last invasion of east florida in the summer of 1778. jane and richard rewarded land grants. in wilkes co. apparently jane receiving a revolutionary grant was rare for women. i am as confused as you are. anyway i have a descendancy chart from richmond 1760 to the 1980s. it includes alot of names. as i said it can go back farther but with the recent mistaken info i dont want to get to far without correction.
