Eduardo - your great-grandfather was also my grandfather. As you may be aware, he married twice, my grandmother was his second wife, who he met in Peru, of French/Irish parentage. At the time he was Medical Officer for the British and various other Vice Consulates in Chile and Peru, where he accumulated his considerable fortune, of which on his death in 1925, he left each of his six children £10,000 in Canadian Pacific shares. The Wall Street crash followed, and my father's 10k was reduced to 2k. At the time he was living in Paris. Your great-grandfather as you probably know, retired to Barcelona, where apart from becoming head of the Lunatic Asylum (a nice story I can't confirm), concentrated on his first love, the guitar. He left a fine collection of guitars to a museum in Barcelona, and he was, of course, both patron and pupil of Tarrega, the famous Spanish guitarist.
Being of the same blood, although nouveau pauvre, my petit manoir in the north of France, where I live with my young wife and son of 15, has a place for you, if you ever visit this part of the world.
By the way, I've just posted a message to Jason Leckie on this board - looks like being another relation.
I'd be really interested to know your connection back to Walter James! Could you be Alex's grandson? My older sister Jackie knew certainly one of the daughters from my grandfather's first marriage. She was a lovely chap.
