Simeon: Nice to hear from you. My book is one of the orginal copies. It is written inside the cover a note "to Howard Warner Esg of South Augusta V.E.L. with best wishes from Edith Leckie, 11 Jan 1966, Brockville Ontario".
In addition, it has a letter in it from a Monica to Howard, dated Jan 13, 1966, stating that Miss Leckie asked her to send him the book. The letter states that she had toured the British Isles and visted the historic Leckie Castle and the Mansion, and Miss Leckie was recovering from a broken hip. There is a newspaper article dated Sept 4, 1971 about the Leckies and a photo of the Leckie House in Burnstown, Ont.
The book also has the newspaper clipping of her death on Jan 14, 1976 stating that she was the daughter of Robert Gilmour Leckie (which must be the author "R.G.E.L." of the book) and Sarah Plimsoll Edwards, survived by several nieces and nephews including Mr. Robert Mainwarring of Brockville.
Simeon: I would appreciate any info you may have on the how to obtain the new books stated in the forum to be printed about the Leckies in Scotland.
Thanks
Fred
