Your posting contains reference to Francois Ledoux and Scolastique (Scholastique?) Desmarais who are in my lineage and about whom I'm trying to find more information.Father Al Ledoux whose responses you may have seen throughout this forum, informed me that Francois is the son of Emmanuel Ledoux and Therese Wilcot which differs from your information.Father Al did not have "Louis" in Emanuel's name, and you listed "Charlotte Gregoire" as his wife as opposed to Father Al's "Therese Wilcot."How confident are you that your information is correct?
Father Al also informed me that Francois had four sons, Joseph, Louis, Zotique, and Francois-Xavier.I believe that my grandfather, Edward Le Doux artist and sign-painter of Mechanicville and Albany, NY, is the son of one of these. Can you shed any light on that?
Lastly, your posting says that Francois was previously married to Catherine Lacroix.Which Francois were you referring to?
Interestingly, it has always been said in our family that one of our Le Doux ancestorswas a carriage-maker in Canada and that some of his work was at Shelburne.Another interesting tidbit is that among some old coins handed down was a very old quarter with the back smoothed down and the name "Olive" engraved on it.The coin was pierced to be hung on a necklace or bracelet.
