I am also a grandchild of Joseph C. Lee and was very excited to find some information on this very hard to track family.I have been working on this family for about 10 years.I am the grandchild of Joseph’s son,William David Lee.He was in the 52nd Tennessee listed as W.D. Lee & Biffles 9th Tennessee Calvary during the civil war.At the end of his service record he was wounded at Murfreesboro and was listed as David on the causality sheet.Samuel was also in Biffles 9th.I have both of their service records.I have a TN veteran’s questionnaire book filled out by Nathan ColumbusDavis of Hardin County and mentions Dave & Sam Lee belonging to part of his company.I also have a photo of David in his civil war uniform.I did not realize that Green T was in the civil war also. This was very excitingto me since I am very interested with my family in the civil war.
I have 1860, 1870, 1880 census listing the entire Lee’s.We are very interested in any info on any of these Lees.It seems that they disappeared after 1880 and we have not been able to find any of them anywhere.I would like to have as much info on Green T that I can.I have been looking for the past 10 years for where any of their burial spots are especially my grandfather.I am a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, thanks to my grandfather David Lee Iwould like to put up confederate stones for any of these Lee’swhich are free through the government.
William David married Elizabeth aka Sarah Lindsey, daughter of John W. Lindsey.John owned a mill on Indian Creek in Hardin County.David and Elizabeth had the following children. Nancy born 1865 (my grandmother) Katherine aka Eda born 1872 Martha born 1878 In the 1880 census a Willie Cooley was living with them.
There is a Barry Lee that was born in Alabama and lived close to the family.I have always thought that maybe he was a brother to David, Samuel, Green T, etc..
Are any of the other Lee’s in Hardin, Wayne, and McNairy Counties related to Joseph C.Possibly brothers to him?????Do you know who Joseph’s father is?Does anyone know Josephs wife, Nancy’s maiden name and any other info on her?Do you have a copy of Green T. ‘s service record?
