The William K. Lee you have listed is my ancestor. He was the son of William Lee and Jane Payne.William Lee was the son of Kendall Lee and Betty Heale.Kendall Lee was the son of Richard Lee and Judith Steptoe.Richard Lee was the son of Hancock Lee and Mary Kendall (daughter of William Kendall).Hancock Lee was the son of Richard Lee and Ann Constable (the immigrant ancestors of the famous Lee families of early Virginia).
One of the male descendants of William Kendall Lee recently participated in a DNA project of 100 males with the Lee surname.Of the 100, the results showed that three were descendants of Richard Lee and Ann Constable.Of these three, the descendant of William Kendall Lee was one.
I have been in contact with a first cousin of that descendant who was tested. He says that the Rev. John S. Lee who performed the marriage of William K. Lee and Martha Fleming Gaines was William's brother.I haven't been able to prove that yet.My information shows that William's brother was a John W. instead of as John S. but we may be dealing with a family that sometimes had more than one middle name.William Kendall Lee had a daughter who according to my family records was named Cornelia Elizabeth Miller Lee.We also have a discrepancy with other middle names. His granddaughter Agnes was listed in my family records as Agnes Fleming Briggs who married William J. Burgess but she is listed elsewhere as Agnes E. instead of F for Fleming. Also William K.'s daughter Harriet is listed in my records as Harriet Newell Lee and my newly found cousin who is her descendant says she was Harriet Elizabeth Lee or Harriet E. Lee (who married Charles Gruber).I know they are one and the same person and I found her sister Cornelia Elizabeth living with her in Georgia along with Cornelia's only child.
I have no idea who the Kendall Lee in Grundy, MO, might be.He sure isn't William K. Lee from my line.
Also, there is at least one other William Kendall Lee who was a cousin to my WKL but I don't remember what generation he was in the Lees of Virginia lineage.
What I can tell you of my William Kendall Lee-- his parents married in Northumberland county VA.William Lee and Jane Payne sold the family home Ditchley that he had inherited from his father.I don't know where they went for sure until WKL shows up in Lynchburg, Campbell County, VA.There is an article (sorry, but I haven't figured out what magazine or paper it came from) that is a letter from Mrs. Agnes E. Burgess (granddaughter of WKL) that says WKL helped rescue people at the theater fire in Richmond (early 1800s).It also mentions the names of his siblings and of his children.
