I imagine that one of the first things that comes to mind with any researcher who happens to be named Lee and who lives in Virginia is the question of how he is related to the famous Lee Family of Virginia.I was not only reared with the understanding that we were related to Robert E. Lee but that we were also descended from John Brown. What a coincidence that would have been.Well, Robert E. Lee was my great grandfather's brother. Robert Eli Lee, that is, of Appomattox-Buckingham-Prince Edward counties.AND, on my mother's side, we do indeed descend from John Brown - a hard working farmer who lived on the Augusta-Rockbridge county line. It's family stories like these, ranging in accuracy from zero to perhaps 99%, that help make this hobby so interesting!
Now, how would I go about doing some DNA testing to see if I do indeed descend from one of the sons of Thomas Lee?
