Hello, Pamela. You and I corresponded about this family many years ago.
I find it difficult to believe that R. Elizabeth Nichaels Lee Edwards signed the marriage bond for Elizabeth Lee and William P. Alderman. All the evidence points to R. Elizabeth's having been illiterate (As was her eldest surviving daughter, Lorinda).A posting on this forum states that Elizabeth Lee Edwards signed the probate records for her deceased husband with a mark.Is this not true?(I am not a descendant of this family and have not looked at any original documents.)
How did you arrive at this conclusion?
Apart from the literacy issue, I do think there is room in this family tree for another daughter born circa 1833. But finding proof is something else again. I think it unlikely that a Bible record would turn up after all this time, but you never know.
How do you know that Elizabeth Lee Alderman was born in Jasper County?
