I have extensive records on the Myers and Lee families of Fort Myers in Lee County Florida.Lee County was named after Robert E Lee.
With that said, it interesting that Smith Lee was Robert E Lee's brother so it would seem the Smiths were part of the Lee family.
One thing for sure, Robert E Lee's wife, Mary Anna Randolph Custis, was a descendent/or relative of Pocahontas via Mary Meade Randolph. She would also be related to Confederate Secretary of War George W Randolph who was Thomas Jefferson's cousin and Edith Bolling who was President Woodrow Wilson's wife.
I believe the Myers family were descendents of Pocahontas' uncle Chief Opequon which sounds like O-Peck-IN.
I bet your Lee group were part Native American plus the Real McCoys and received some free land in that area because of it.
I have been studying "off the record" mixed blood Hybrid families of the West Pointers for years. One group well document by both DNA and Records is a group of Native American woman and children, more then 20, taken from the Fort Myers area during the third Seminole War and brought to New Orleans for safe keeping.
Today you will find gravestones that say Zachery Davis and Jefferson Taylor and such up and down the river from New Orleans to Pittsburgh who's DNA points directly to South Florida.
