Mrs. Neely,Sorry for the belated reply to your query about Thomas Napier. My ancestor John Lee, Sr. and wife, Lucy lived in Goochland Co., VA,Their children were: Helena Eleanor b abt 1730, d1766; Stephen b abt 1732, d1809; John, Jr b 1734. d1779;Deborah b 1735, d1803; and Benjamin b abt 1739, d1802. Benjamin moved to Williamson Co, TN where he died.
Goochland Co, VA was split into ten different counties between 1728 and 1745. Eventually Fluvanna Co was split out of Buckingham Co in 1777.
There was an earlier connection between This Lee family and the Napier family. Goochland Co. Deed Book 3, p 64: 15 November 1737, for 14 pounds John Lee (Benjamin's father) bought 200 acres...from Robert Napier, Jr. of Goochland Co.Among the witnesses was Patrick Napier. This transaction ended in court in March 1738.
Benjamin married Mary Richardson in September 1766.
I've included this additional info to help you more positively identify Benjamin. If you want more detail oh the John Lee family, let me know.
Descendants of John and Lucy have for years explored the possibility of a connectionto the Richard Lee/Gen. RobertE. Lee family line. There is no relationship. One male descendant of John Lee, Jr. had the DNA test whichproved no relationsip to the Richard Lee line..
That brings me to the bottom line of my message:I have not given you any proof that this Benjamin is the Benjamin you are looking for. I never learned that he had taken an apprentice. Nevertheless,I believe there is enough evidence here to claim this Lee family as the one you seek (Dangerous).
