My family is from Ulster.Most Leemans there are named after the Lamont clan of Scotland but ours appear to have been Rhineland Jews who fled to Ireland around 1640's.Leeman is a common Dutch Jewish name, and comes from Lehmann in Germany (pronounced the same way.

The oldest inscription comes from 7th century BC Ethiopia where LMN was the name of a Sheban king who ruled over a mixed population of sb (shebans) and br (Hebrews.
