Seems I found this thread about three years too late! I don't know if anyone can help me but my name is Paul Leaman and one of my relatives Frederick A Leaman left his home town of Bristol (UK) and left for the USA via Liverpool docks (UK) on the SS Ivernia in 1913. According to records sound he was heading for Somerville MA... possibly Concorde Avenue? His trade was that of Carpenter. As far as I can tell he died at the ripe old age of 82 on the 19/9/1959 in Los Angeles. According to the 1920 Federal Census he had three children in MA, they were called Edith V (AGED 10) Horace F (aged 8) and Donald H (Aged 2). His wife was Florence and she was a UK citizen.
Horace his son died in France in WW2 Whilst with the 86th Squadron 437th Troop Carrier Group. However that's as far as I have got.. I would love to trace the other children if thats possible. I have placed this here because of the rather tenuous Boston MA link, although as I live in the UK I have no idea where anywhere is in relation to anywhere else in the USA!
As you can see, the spelling of the surname is different, but having tracked my family across the South West of the UK I have now come up with three different spellings, so I guess anything is possible!
Any questions or answers then please get in touch. Thanks again. Paul A Leaman
