I was told this information by my Great grandmother #7, Melinda Blanche Legge. Now this being said she had Alzeheimers. I HAVE found the 1921 Farmers Arm Census, and it does show Frederick & Elizabeth with many of these children, however NO Melinda or Blanche who would have been about 3-4 by then.
My grandmother, Melinda's daughter is adamant that she wasn't adopted, however I am skeptical if she really knows or not.
Now I also know there was another Frederick Legge in the same area at the same time, known to many as Frederick JR. He was married 2 times, Eliza Stockley and Emma Ann Crossley, he was the s/o of James Legge and Barbara. So this is NOT my Frederick. They were called Jr & Sr to distinguish between the two of them.
I have also found a marriage record for
Dec 8 1893, Twillingate.
Frederick Legge, 30, bach, fisherman, of Twillingate, Meth
to
Elizabeth Curtis, 23, spin, Meth, of Fridays Bay
witnesses: Matthew Bulgin and Rosanna Bulgin
This information jives with the information I was given. Im hoping I can find more information or trace other Legge lines to see where this one fits in!!
