Here is what information I have. From the 1871 Raleigh Census under Essex/Kent DavidLegue 26 years old born in the US, Roman Catholic, French Labourer .
From there I went to real 9891 for the 1871 census for Raleigh, Div 1 Page 23 David Legue Male 26 b US, Catholic and French Labourer Wife Mary 26 born in Ontario, Catholic
Children Louisa age 5 in 1871 Sarah Ann age 3 Alfred…which I think is the David you re interested in was age 1
In the 1901 Census Page 12 #113-119 David Legue listed as born in May 1843 in the US Mary (Wife) born July/1843 in Ontario Louis born July 13 1892 Alex born October 4/1888 Mary (my grandmother) born June 17/1886
Also in the 1901 census there is a Fred (can’t make out the rest) that seems to fit your David.

David Legue was 21 years of age.Presently living in Chatham, listed as being born in Newport, U.S. son of Mathew &____.Mary was 20 of Chatham and born in Chatham.Daughter of Peter and Catherine C.Witnesses:Julien Labutte of Chatham and Joseph Odette of Stoney Point.

From Ancestry.com....I have your David Alfred Legue Born in 1869, died in 1951 Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham Ontario. Marriage to Mary Boley born in 1863 (This information differs from what you have as 1865?) in Raleigh Township, she died in 1948. She was the daughter of George W Boley Born August 14/ 1846 in USA (died in 1923 in Kent County) and Catherine West born January 9/1842 in Canada. They were married February 25th/1862 in Raleigh Township. I have a list of their children. Children to this couple was Victoria born in 1898.I have information on George Boley's Parents.
