Carrie & Kelle,
It's been a very long time since I checked in here... I will try to clear up the confusion as best I can.
Robert Leon Lamon/Lemon and Mary McCown Lemon were definitely the parents of John Charles Lemon. He was their second child, first son.He was born in Scott Co. KY on Feb. 20, 1791. He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Harryman, b. Nov. 9, 1802 in Madison Co., KY, on August 7, 1821 in Columbia, Boone Co., MO.
They were the parents of nine children:
--Mary Jane Lemon, b. January 17, 1824 in Columbia, Boone Co., MO,m. (1) Aquilla Glover on Mar 21, 1844 in MO.He died Nov. 13, 1849 in Georgetown, El Dorado Co., CA while checking on his gold mine interests. He was the leader of the first rescue party to reach the Donner Party.Mary Jane m. (2) David E. Gish. She died Nov. 4, 1904 in Bishop, CA.Mary Jane was NOT John Charles' wife!!!
--Martha Ann Lemon, b. 1826, m. Isaac Raines on Feb. 22, 1849 in MO.
--Sarah Lemonb. Sep. 9, 1827 in Boone Co., MO, m. August 25, 1845 in Benton Co., MO, to Meredith Dillon, Jr. She died May 21, 1903 in KS.
--John Brown Lemon, b. Mar 26, 1829 in Moniteau Co., MO, m. Nancy Nowell (my line -- much more info available). He died Dec. 3, 1898 in Benton Co., MO. The 'Brown' part of John Brown Lemon's name came from Betsy Harryman's mother's line.
--James C. Lemon, b. March 14, 1831 in Cole Camp, Benton Co., MO, m. in 1854 in CA to Bersheba A. Lynn.Died June 13, 1896 in Monroe, Benton Co., OR.
--William L. Lemon (no further info known)
--Jasper N. Lemon, b. Mar 4 1837 in Moniteau Co., MO, d. 1913 in San Bernardino, CA,m. Nov. 26, 1857 in Benton Co., MO, to Mary Ann McCall b. 1839 in MO, d. Oct. 1916 in Orange Co., CA (he was a J. P. in MO).
--Fletcher W. Lemon, b. 1842, m. October 14, 1860, in Benton Co., MO, to Henrietta Estes.
Though John Charles was not mentioned in Robert's will, two (I think) of Robert's granddaughters named John Charles as their uncle, along with correct corresponding info, on their applications to the DAR.It is thought that it is possible that John Charles had already received his inheritance from his father in the form of money loaned to him to purchase land, therefore no mention of him in will.It has been a while since I looked at my supporting documents... but I will have to all over again as all my source notes were lost when my old computer crashed. However, this will have to wait until after my new home is built and we move in...
Hopes this helps clear up some of the confusion!
