In 1816, Richard and Mary Ann Lenox sold their land in Madison County, AL.
The land was next to land owned by John Lenox, who had been killed in the battle of Emuckfau on January 22,1814 in the War of 1812.
John volunteered with the 2nd Regiment Tennessee Mounted Volunteers, mostly from Madison County, AL, and the Tennessee counties of Lincoln, Robertson, Smith, and Wilson and served as 1st Lt. under Capt. Samuel Allen.
John Lenox left a widow, Lucena (Walters) Lenox and a small son, Samuel W. Lenox.
I am trying to determine John's parents or family.Since Richard and Mary Ann had adjoining land, there must be a connection, but I have not been able to find where Richard and Mary Ann went after they left Madison County, AL.
Since John volunteered from Tennessee, It would seem that he was from the Tennessee Lenoxes, but I cannot find a connection there, either.
