I am researching ONE of the George W Leonard families in Baltimore, MD. My George W Leonard (Sr) was born ca 1815, MD (both parents born in MD); married to Anna/Annie E born ca 1823, MD (both parents born in MD). Their children were: George W (Jr), b. 1844, Samuel b. 1847, and Sarah b. 1851.
Samuel married a Sarah & had two sons, Wilber and Samuel. Sarah married James Hamilton and had John T, Elizabeth M, Eva A, and James O.
George Jr. was married twice: first to Anna/Annie C, born ca 1849, MD. Their children were: Samuel (1871-1886), George (III) b. 1873, Molly b. 1877, Charles H (1880-1891), and Cora (1884-1968).
Anna/Annie C died 8 Jan 1888, and George Jr. then married Margaret "Maggie" Brooks. Neither of their children survived. There was a stillborn child 28 Nov 1890, and their son Robert Lee died at 4 months (Jan 1893-May 1893).
The next month, George Jr was killed in a horrible accident on the B&O Railroad in Baltimore. The family story is that Maggie went a little nuts (can't blame the poor thing), and George's two surviving kids from his first marriage (George III and Cora) went to an orphanage as the grandparents had died, too.
Anyone hear stories like this or do these names sound familiar? Most of them are buried at Western Cemetery in Baltimore.
