thankyou so much for your inquiry!i really need help on this one!as far as i know, Sarah's married name was Leonard.and i'm assuming that John used Leonard as only his last name.
sadly, i have no information on John's father.the only lead i had was a Pago Leonard in Angelina County, Texas, during the same time John and Sarah were there.but he was not ever listed with them in the census.i only found him in a land/property list and could not identify him as any relation as his name never appeared in any other place.
two other curious thoughts: John and Sarah in 1860-1870 census list Flanders and Georgia (the country) as their birthplace.
family history has it that two Leonard cousins came from Ireland or Scotland, by way of England to the states.i'm assuming that this may have been my John Leonard's ancestor.my side eventually came on to Texas, while the other cousin stayed in Kentucky.this is all verbal history and i have not been able to substantiate.it very well may have been two cousins, not necessarily both Leonards.
i am so encouraged by your response as i have not had any feedback in the past.i have some other thoughts/facts and will gladly share if you are interested...
i'm hoping that you have some leads for me!!!it would be a great Christmas present!
