FOUND: Relatives of THOMAS A. KINCHEN and ANNIE SASSER KINCHEN LETCHWORTH. Their graves will be moved to new & safer site. Contacts were located to relative(s) of THOMAS A. KINCHEN (b. 08 Apr 1832, d. 06 Oct 1904). This gentleman is currently buried in the center of a large corn field, about 1/2 mile from any roads. Burial appears to be alongside one other grave, that of ANNIE LETCHWORTH (b. 17 Oct 1844, d. 13 Apr 1922). These are in Grady County, Georgia, although at the time Mr. KINCHEN was buried in Decatur County, GA.
The Sons Of Confederate Veterans, Ochlocknee Rifles unit, have had new caskets built and will be properly and ceremoniously relocating them in Providence Cemetery, near Providence Road and about a mile from Providence Church. Dates of the actual funerals will be in early 2013, about February. (I haven't the exact date on hand at this moment).
The upright headstones will be moved to the new gravesites and all will be in a well-kept cemetery with easier access for any to visit. Any and all are welcome to the ceremony. I will post the exact date as soon as possible. This guarantees that the large, sloped, farm field will not plow over these 2 graves. (The old site is away from roads and difficult to visit, especially during the seasons. The new site is a newer, level, high ground and well-tended cemetery.
