It has been about 8 years (bad memory!) since I had became connected to the Letchworth's in a strange way. I owned an estate store and got a call about a small apartment full of unimportant junk. In it I made some wonderful discoveries. Not $$$, just wonderful history of a woman and her family. I guess I am different than a lot in the business. I respect families. I have kept her hats, his swagger stick, and that box of letters and photos that no one wanted (she had no heirs for some reason). Her husband had been a state legislator for St. Augustine, FL. and they had lived there at the turn of the century. There was pictures of St. Augustine covered in snow, during a flood, etc. It was also a bizzare coincidence that I was doing a show there the next month. I took the letters, etc. and found her family's homes, landmarks in town, etc. I even talked to the owner of one of the houses she lived in. The new owner, of course wanted the box of memorabilia (they are very into history in St. Augustine) but it wasn't something I wanted to sell and I don't know why. I am seriously planning on giving it to the museum in St. Augustine but thought perhaps someone somewhere could find a connection and I could at least provide scans of the items. Everyone in my family thinks I am nuts for being so involved in a family I did not know at all...especially for turning down $200.00 for the stuff!...and to tell you the truth, I really can't explain it myself...Many blessings on your searches...Thanks!
