Hello, I am presently researching my genealogy and came across your postings. At present I am compiling family records into a database. While I have not yet finished the database, and it will be some time, I can perhaps give you some answers. The original name is Leveille, Truchon is a dit name meaning ruffly "of the lowlands". It refers to the fact that the family comes from the louir valley in France. The name has been in America since about 1680 when Louis Leveille dit Truchon came to New France. His father is the oldest Ancestor along the Levielle dit Truchon line that I yet know of, his name was Pierre Truchon and he lived in Nantes France, which is in the louir valley. While I have not yet found any references to a Damasse Leveille, He might of come from that line, as I have seen several of his decendants who have dropped the Truchon, who have dropped the Leveille, or who reversed them into Truchon dit Leveille. If you have any records that you can send it could greatly aid my own research.
