I asked "where were the Levis in England prior to this time (i.e. 1520)" since a number of your previous postings state they are documented as being in the area of Nottingham as early as 1520. Since the date of 1520 was mentioned a number of times, I concluded that 1520 is an important date.I believe to ask where they were prior to this time is an acceptable question.
If your reply above is saying that original records prior to that date are inadequate to accurately establish the whereabouts of Levis is England prior to the date of 1520, I accept that as an answer to my original question.Thank you.You have answered my query, and I do appreciate it.
As far as answering why "no one here [on this forum I presume] has quoted any of the contemporary records from England, except for myself [Leslie Mahler]", I can't say.I am not a spokesperson for all participants in the Levis forum.
And you close the query above by saying "after you provide an answer, a reply will be made to your question".I detect in that reply a certain "contentiousness" or, shall we say, "arrogance"which I choose to not encounter in genealogical research. When I first checked out the LEVIS family forum and I found there were only 45 or so queries, I thought it was because the family name was "uncommon".I have decided that THAT conclusion was wrong.
By the way, no need to reply.I won't be checking back.
